The latest from the mountune-powered world of Motorsport

BTCC ROUND 13 | 14 | 15 -

The sun was shining on the Croft Circuit this weekend for the 5th meet of the 2018 British Touring Car Chamionship, and also on mountune-powered Team Shredded Wheat and Team GardX Racing.

Qualifying was a positive result after an awesome lap saw Tordoff's #600 Focus RS take P4, the first FWD car on the grid, with Cole coming in 12th and Chilton, 19th.

Race 1 saw an early safety car interval and at the restart, Tordoff did well to fend off the competition to remain in fourth place, where he took the flag. Cole also maintained his starting position taking P12 and Chilton climbed the grid to cross in P15.

Race 2 again saw Tordoff maintain his position finishing in P4 but it was Chilton who gained the most in Round 14, moving 9 places up the grid with some superb driving to take P6.  Unfortunately, Cole took a knock which bumped him to the back of the grid, crossing in P23.

A reverse grid in the final race of the day saw Chilton start in P4 and a quick start when the lights went out saw him move quickly up to P2, where he stayed for the whole race taking the second step podium, and his third podium of the season so far.  Tordoff completed the top 8 and Cole crossed in P20.

Croft proved to be a great weekend for Motorbase Performance, and at the half-way point sees Chilton sitting in 5th position in the Driver Standings and 2nd in the Independent Drivers, with Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher also in 2nd in the Independents Teams.

Nordic RallyX - Grenland, Norway

Round 3 of the 2018 Nordic RallyX proved a very busy and successful weekend for the mountune-powered teams and drivers.

JC Raceteknik's Bryntesson had a great Q1 and Q2, finishing in P2 both times. A suspension issue saw him drop back to P11 for the final qualifying session but he had still made enough points to get him through to the the Semi-Finals.

Teammate Frøshaug also proved his pace during the three qualifying rounds, taking P5, P5 and P4 respectively and joined his teammate, Bryntesson in the Semi-Final line-up.

Being paralysed from the waist down has never stopped Mats Ohman from getting right in the thick of the Nordic RallyX action, which he did again at Grenland.  Qualifying saw him take P3 in the first race, followed by P6 and P9 in the last two sessions of the day, which secured his Semi-Final spot.

Olsberg's Oliver Eriksson took a DNF in the first qualifying session after suffering a turbo issue but came back to take P2 and P4 in the remaining races, just enough to make him the fourth mountune-powered Fiesta Supercar to reach the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Final 1 saw Frøshaug line the start grid in 2nd place and maintain his position to take his spot in the Final Race.  Eriksson mimicked Frøshaug in Semi-Final 2, starting and ending in P2, also making the final race of the day.

Bryntesson started Semi-Final 2 in pole position and finish in P5, followed by Ohman in P6, both ending their race days before the final.

Having recovered from a broken turbo early in the day, Eriksson had done well to earn himself a spot in the final, where he secured his first podium of the season in his mountune-powered Ford Fiesta supercar, finishing just 2 seconds behind the leader, taking P2, with Frøshaug following in P5.

Post Round 3 of the 2018 series, all four mountune-powered drivers sit in the top 7, with reigning Champion, Bryntesson just 4 points behind the leader.

We look forward to the championship continuing at Nysum  on August 12th.
