2018 BTCC: Behind the Wheel

British Touring Car Championship

Renowned BTCC team Motorbase Performance are once again powered by mountune for their 2018 championship campaign, this being our 8th consecutive year of involvement with the Kent, UK based team.

At the Autosport Show this year, the team unveiled their new look Ford Focus RS's, which will run a revised version of our infamous 4-cylinder 2-litre Ford EcoBoost engines, derived from the 247bhp road car version.

The RS styling suits the BTCC bodywork so well, the styling is really aggressive and has given the Focus a whole new look. The team have done an excellent job over the winter, it’s not just been a case of updating a few bumpers, a lot of development work has gone into this car and we’re confident that the improvements will show on track." David Bartum - Team Principle

Tom James Chilton is a British racing driver, one of the youngest to join the BTCC Circuit where he has spent most of his career, starting at the age of just 17.  He was a former factory Vauxhall and Honda driver in the early years, swapping to a mountune-powered Ford Focus ST between 2009-2011 with Team Aon, where he also won the independent drivers’ title.  During a 5 year BTCC hiatus, Tom honed his touring car skills further in the WTCC – also winning the independents’ driver title in 2017 before returning to his BTCC roots in 2017.
Tom brings a wealth of touring car experience to the team – as well as a highly infectious personality.
